Obviously some posts are easier to comment on than others. Here's a starter:
What film have you seen recently which you enjoyed or which made you think ?
A few weeks ago I went to see Doubt, which I thoroughly enjoyed for its intelligent script, quality acting and deep themes. Last week I saw Monsters vs Aliens which was full of funny dialogue and film references, though I wish I'd gone for the 3D version.
How about you ?

I haven't seen Doubt, but your mentioning it reminds me that it is on a list of films to see that i made a while ago. We saw "Once" on DVD recently which I totally loved, this is raw, gutsy stuff with great music which I could easily watch again and again.
ReplyDeleteAlso watched The Dark Knight, which, in spite of some gruesome moments was pretty entertaining.Heath Ledger's Joker was eerily very good. But not a movie to watch over and over. Tracey
Went and saw Last Chance Harvey the other day.Ordinary enough storyline but an excellent chance to see two superb actors doing their stuff unimpeded by special effects, clever convoluted plots, horizontal dancing and all the usual enticing clutter. Not to say I don't appreciate those things, as my next cinema outing will almost certainly be Star Trek and I keenly await Synecdoche New York.
ReplyDeleteI'll try this just once more. I just sent a comment, then it simply disappeared.

Ordinary enough story line but an excellent chance to see two superb actors doing their stuff uncluttered by special effects, convoluted plots, horizontal dancing, unlimited supplies of ammunition spraying everywhere, sub plots and other actors getting in the way. Not that I don't appreciate these other approaches to the art, as my next film will probably be Star Trek and I keenly await Synecdochy New York. Bruce.
